From the recording Shima Uta (Remix 2012) - Musical Journey CD
"Shima Uta (Remix 2012)" is a song written by Kazufumi Miyazawa who is the composer, lyricist and lead singer for the Japan rock group "The Boom." In 1993 “The Boom” released "Shima Uta" that became a big hit throughout Japan and Okinawa. "Shima Uta" translates to "Island Song" but is referred by Okinawans as "Hometown Song." The lyrics reflect the sorrows of war in Okinawa while also celebrating the beauty, grace and culture of the Okinawan people.
A previously mixed version of "Shima Uta" was featured on the "Touch" CD that won a 1998 Hawaii Music Award in the Island Music category and features new guitar vocal arrangements.
